The story of Grace Elliott, a young Scottish aristocrat trapped in Paris at the time of the revolution. Despite her monarchist sympathies, she is intimate with the Duc d’Orléans, an influential Republican. She is suspected of being an English spy and her own safety is jeopardised after she reluctantly helps the governor of the Tuileries to evade the guillotine. Based on the published memoirs of Grace Elliott: `Ma vie sous la révolution’.
