Catherine Deneuve stars in this romantic comedy as Marie, the beautiful and bored wife of Jerome (Noiret), a man content to live in his creaky chateau on the French countryside near Normandy. It’s 1944 and Marie longs for the excitement of Paris and to leave the German occupied countryside. However, her life unexpectedly gets a jolt of drama when a group of German soldiers make Marie and Jerome’s chateau their new home and their commanding officer makes it clear to Marie who he’s pursuing. Meanwhile, Marie also meets a French spy who is gathering information on the German position in Normandy who becomes smitten with her, generating some fierce competition between her three admirers that could have disastrous international consequences.
