This massively popular French farce illustrates that the North-South divide is even worse in France! To southerners, the inhabitants of the Nord Pas de Calais region are a bunch of beer-swilling, chip-gorging, rain-soaked cretins.When post office manager Phillipe (Merad) is transferred from Provence, his depressive wife refuses to accompany him North. In Bergues he discovers that life is great and the natives are friendly – even if they do talk a bit funny. But on weekends home, he must keep up the charade and bemoan his fate.
