1944-1945. The Liberation of Italy, Provence, the Alps, the Rhone Valley, Vosges, and Alsace was essential to the victory of the allies, and to establish France’s presence among them after the armistice.

The victory in the battle to advance on Germany, was the accomplishment of the First French Army, recruited in Africa in order to avoid the control of the German commissioners and the Vichy authorities: 200,000 men, including 130,000 “indigenes” (natives) including 110,000 North Africans, and 20,000 Africans, the rest made up of two thirds “pieds- noirs” (French colonials) and one third young frenchmen who fled the occupation.

The film relates the forgotten story of the soldiers known as “Indigènes” following the epics of four of them: Abdelkader, Saïd, Messaoud and Yassir (le goumier) a mobile corps, reputed for their endurance, ground sense , and courage in close combat. They are sent to the front line. Each one is in pursuit of a different objective throughout the passage across France which they liberate, arms in hand.

With: Jamel Debbouze, Samy Naceri, Roschdy Zem, Sami Bouajila, Bernard Blancan, Mélanie Laurent.

Paris. For some months now, a violent gang has been operating with complete disregard for the law. Head of the Judicial Police, Robert Mancini lays down a challenge to the two men who work directly beneath him, – the head of the Search and Action Squad, Leo Vrinks (Daniel Auteuil) and the head of the Anti-Crime Unit, Denis Klein (Gérard Depardieu): Whichever man captures the gang will replace him as the head of the Criminal Investigations Department. The race begins for the two men – once friends who now don’t speak to one another. They have different methods, different teams, and different relationships with one woman, Camille Vrinks (Valeria Golino).

With: Gérard Depardieu, Daniel Auteuil, André Dussollier, Roschdy Zem, Valeria Golino.
